Look who's 17

This precious girl arrived on April 27th, two months early, weighing in at 4 pounds even.
Makenzie is now 17 and has turned into a wonderful young women. She works hard at everything she does, except cleaning her room. She is in advance classes and makes great grades in them. She is a friend to everyone. Her sportsmanship has made me very proud this year. She is the first person to congratulate all the other throwers in track even if they beat her. She wishes them luck as they advance to state. She went to shake one of the girls hands who had a really good throw at regionals and the girl just hugged Makenzie, that's just the kind of person she is and we love her very much!!

We went to Pappasito's for her birthday dinner and it was raining hard and when we got there it started to hail. That was some crazy storm we had! She went to the church dance that night. We did cake and ice cream the day after since she was one the night of her birthday. She got a little cash for her birthday since she got Carrie Underwood concert tickets and tshirts earlier for her birthday!
Happy 17th Makenzie!!

The 7 om 7 Champs

After a busy afternoon at Makenzie's track meet, we went to watch Jacob's team play in the 7 on 7 finals. They were the number 4 seed team. We beat the number one seed and then beat the number 2 seed to win the championship. The boys were extremely happy!!! After the game we all went to eat at El Jarrito's. Jacob had his friend Thomas with him so after dinner he spent the night at Thomas's house along with another teammate, Austin. When I picked up Jacob on Saturday, Thomas's mom said the boys slept with their medals they got for first place, did i mention they were extremely excited to win!

Interception by Jacob

"He hit me before the ball got there"

"Are you going to throw a flag/"

And he gets the flag!

And a dog pile on top of one of the coaches.
Their coaches are high school seniors from our school.
The coach at the bottom was partially de-pants when he was getting of the ground.

Texas 5A Region 3 Track and Field Championships

Once again Makenzie earned a spot in Regionals for shot put. There are 4 Regions in Texas and we are Region 3. There are 64 plus or minus high schools in this region. Makenzie headed into Regionals in the #12 spot and ended up taking 8th place with a new personal record of 38' 1/2". She had 3 throws and hit her previous PR which landed her in the finals. She was 8th going into the finals and left there, but with a new PR so we are extremely happy for her as were her coaches!

She's got her number pinned on and she is ready to go.
She was a little bummed that her number wasn't divisible by 3. She likes those numbers.

Waiting to take her first practice throw

Second throw

Third throw

An excited group knowing she made it into the finals

A very happy Coach Mathias.
She was Makenzie's Freshman basketball coach and I think she is happier for Makenzie
than she was when they went undefeated in basketball their freshman year!

All the girls in the finals getting instructions

Her final throw in the finals that landed her a new PR!

Carrie Underwood Concert

Makenzie's birthday is this coming Saturday and months ago she asked if she could go to the Hunter Hayes/Carrie Underwood concert for her birthday. Makenzie doesn't ask for a lot so most of the tickets were already bought, so I found some on stubhub. They turned out to be good seats. Since it was her birthday present we bought her t-shirts and Jacob got one too, and I know Brittney is whining about this!
Hunter Hayes was OK, he's more "eye candy" for the girls, but Carrie Underwood did not disappoint, she was awesome! So glad we could share this night with Makenzie!

Waiting for the doors to open

Makenzie singing along

Jacob taking pictures of Carrie Underwood. I think his phone was full afterwards

Love this guy! This is our 3rd concert in the past 2 months.
