Easter

The Easter clothes

Took this picture at church since Jacob left for church before us and was leaving church before us and I knew he wouldn't leave his clothes on for me to take a picture.

Brittney said Matthew wouldn't take a picture with her.

Festival of Colors

Matthew and Brittney went to the Festival of Colors.
In India, Holi announces the arrival of spring and the passing of winter. The festival breathes an atmosphere of social merriment. People bury their hatchets with a warm embrace and throw their worries to the wind. Every nook and corner presents a colorful sight. Young and old alike are covered with colors (red, green, yellow, blue, black and silver). People in small groups are seen singing, dancing and throwing colors on each other.

Brittney tells us Matthew took his friend Johnny's sign and some girl came up and kissed him

Special Olympics 2013

Jacob and Makenzie helped out with the Special Olympics this year and it was at our high school!  I was there taking pics, shocker I know. This was the first time in many years that Dale wasn't in charge of anything since he is no longer the YM's President. Big surprise, Makenzie ran the shot put.  Jacob helped out at the long jump. We all participated in a relay. They needed filler groups to run and help push the kids that were actually running. I ran barefoot and in very non running clothes, but it was for fun.

Love this. One athlete was plugging his ears because the gun was too loud
and the other athlete is cold and is wearing his coat.

Our friend Tyler dancing.
We wanted to do the Harlem Shake with the athletes and video it, but by time they started to play it everyone was eating and most of the athletes had left, it wouldn't be as fun without the athletes.

I'm getting ready to run

Our awesome Relay Team

Makenzie knows Jake from Camp Journey but we found out he is the nephew of her basketball coach.
We saw Coach Dudley in the stands and Makenzie asked him why he was there and it was to watch his nephew.

Craw Fish Boil

Our friends John and Cathy Jensen had a Good Friday craw fish boil at their house. I haven't seen them in 10 years. John and Dale met in college and John was Dale's best man at our wedding. We lived in San Angelo at the same time for a few years, where both the Jensen girls were born and then they moved and we moved and now we are both back in the Houston area, but I haven't seen them until now, Dale has seen John a few times. It was fun to see them and catch up a little bit. There were a lot of people there so I didn't get to visit too much, but it was still good to see them. I also got to see some triplets that I haven't seen since they were babies, when I helped out a few days. They are now 7. It was fun to see how well they are doing, they are your typical 7 year olds. I really should be better about keeping up with all these guys, especially since we all live in the Houston area.

I had some Taco Bell on the way home!

Not the hospital again!

Matthew's truck battery had died and he jumped it so he could go snowboarding that night. Dale and I were worried about it starting again, so we were following him on "Find My Friends" to make sure he made it back to Provo. When I looked at my phone this is what I saw...

I showed this to Dale and said I sure hope he is just driving by and not actually there. Matthew does have a history of going there and getting staples put in head. Glad to report he was just passing by.

Keeps Improving

Once again, Makenzie got another person record in shot put. She threw 37" 4 1/2" which was good for 4th place. She missed 3rd place by 1/2 an inch, but a PR is a PR! She had an off day in discus, she was having a hard time getting her footing down and the one she threw far was out of the sector because she released  the discus too soon. We had to take the good with the bad. She only got 10th out of 28, but at this meet, you didn't get points for your team unless you were 6th place or better. Other than Regionals last year, this is the first time she hasn't gotten points for the team in discus, but at least she got some for shot put.

By the way, the song Dynamite was playing at the baseball field behind her.
That is my favorite pop song and I told her to get a PR to my song and she did!

Lacing up her discus shoes

The sun was trying to break through the clouds.
It would be cool and then get warm.

I took this picture to show how much shorter Makenzie is than most throwers.
Her Junior High coach was always amazed how well she would do being shorter than the rest of the throwers.

Sunday Humor

Our Home Teacher came over tonight and brought his 4 1/2 year old son with him. His son announced to us that his Dad forgot to put his pants on and he saw him in his undies.

We have a non-member family that has been coming to church on a regular basis and they brought their parents with them today. After one of the very uplifting talks, the mother yells out AMEN and claps. I guess she was moved by the Spirit as we all were, she just showed it!

On a more lighter note, we are learning the song, If The Savior Stood Beside Me, in Primary. one of the boys in my class leaned over to me and said, "When we sing, 'If I could see the Savior standing nigh' watching over me', it makes me want to cry." He was truly being touched by the Spirit. I love those moments in Primary!

Football has returned

Jacob has started his 7 on 7 season. He had 2 games Friday night. The first game the won by forfeit since the other team was a no show. They won their 2nd game! I got there in the middle of the first half since Makenzie and I were coming from her track meet.

I think Jacob wanted that one!

Good defense

And the one that got away, but even if he had caught it,
it wouldn't have counted because the 4 seconds to throw the pass was up

And She Keeps Improving!

Makenzie participated in the Rice University Victor Lopez Classic this past week on the Rice University campus.   It was a 3 day meet, but she just participated on Thursday night and Friday afternoon. This was a huge meet with many participants and some nationally ranked athletes. Makenzie did really well. Thursday night she threw the discus 108' 11" which tied her personal best which earned her 7th place out of 46 girls and she earned 2 points for the Cinco Ranch girls team. Saturday afternoon she threw the shot put 37' 3/4" for a personal record which also earned her 7th place.Every week she has improved on either shot put or discus and we couldn't be more proud of her!!

What a contrast in the weather on those 2 days. Thursday night was windy, misty and kind of cold when the sun went down. Friday it was in the mid 80's and very humid. We got a little pink sitting outside.

Friday Meet-Shot Put

We ran into Megan Palmer. Megan plays basketball for Rice,
but she was Makenzie's"basketball big sister" Makenzie's freshman year.
Megan was working the discus ring next to the shot. It was fun seeing her!

A very happy Makenzie after getting a personal best and placing 7th!
