Thoughtful Teacher

This is too sweet not to share.
Yesterday Jacob had his last Elementary School Party. It was bitter sweet. I'm just a bundle of emotions these days with my oldest graduating and my youngest leaving elementary school. Jacob and I walked home after the party and I took a picture of him in front of the school marque and was a little sad. When we got home we checked the mail and Jacob received this note and picture. It was from his 1st grade teacher. Talk about getting your heart strings tugged. Thank you Ms. Meyer for being a teacher and a thoughtful one at that, even though you made me cry. Jacob in 1st Grade
Thank you for the note and picture, Ms. Meyer!

Yesterday's Project

Yesterday was a day to get a few things done for Matthew day. I finally went to the store to buy his bedding and towels for college. This really should have been done sooner, but I cry every time I think about buying the stuff. You would have been proud of me, I didn't cry until I got out to the car. I also had to put together a picture board that is going to hang at the after graduation party sponsored by the school. It was due today, so I finally started on it yesterday. (I did all of this after running an hour and 35 minutes yesterday. The running was to relieve stress inflicted upon me by girls camp money collection and other people). Looking at all these pictures made me teary eyed. It was bad, because I was printing out all these pictures and cutting them out, and had to stop to take the girls to the high school for sports physicals and I was all red eyed. I blamed it on allergies when someone asked if I was OK. The poster is done and delivered.
Here are a few pictures I took with Matthew and the dogs yesterday. I was trying to get a picture for the middle of the poster and the dogs wanted in also.
You got to love a boy and his dogs!

If you know the answer, please share!

Why do some people feel they have to be in charge?
Why do people ignore deadlines?
Why do people yell at you for things that you have no control over?

I don't know the answers, but they obviously think their lives are more important than yours and they don't mind if they inconvenience you.

I'm just venting. I'm the Ward Camp Director and camp money and forms were due on Sunday and I only had about a third of the girls turn stuff in. This is partially due to someone else sending out information about camp and passing out forms with a different date on it than I passed out. Even though I made announcements about the deadline and sent out emails, people still couldn't get their stuff done on time. As of today I still don't have every ones stuff. As for the person sending out information, I pleaded with this person yesterday to stop sending info out and she did it anyways. I checked my email and there it was, stuff I asked her not to send. Then I had to deal with irate parents thinking they had till next Sunday to get it in. I even had a parent upset because there wasn't a line for their cell phone number. Who knew collecting forms and money would be so stressful!

I Don't know Why I Am So Tired?

What a busy week we had last week! There was something going on every night. Last night there was a Ward picnic, but after a long week, working in the yard yesterday, and having a cold, Dale a I stayed home, but the kids went. I think they just wanted dinner instead of leftovers at our house. Here are the pictures from last weeks events.

Monday: Makenzie had her Theater Awards Ceremony. She was also inducted into the Junior Thespian Society, which is a theater club.

Tuesday: Brittney was awarded for her Outstanding Academic Achievement( all A's). Matthew's name was in the program for his prior recognition of making the State All Academic Team in Football.

Friday: Makenzie was one of the MC's for the Spring Follies. This is basically a talent show put on by the Theater students. Makenzie was suppose to be going for a goth look. Kind of hard to do with platinum blond hair. The best part of the night was during the dancing acts, the little boy in front of us was dancing away. I got some video, will have to post that later.

The End! I need a nap now!

Respect For Country and Flag...Where Do We Learn This?

I went to the High School Awards Ceremony last night. They started it off with everyone standing to say the Pledge of Allegiance and then the choir was going to sing the National Anthem. This was announced before the Pledge was started. After the Pledge at least 80% of the people sat down(one probably being my daughter, I couldn't see her). I stood their feeling stupid, thinking my big butt was probably in someones face. I was also embarrassed because their were Officers from 3 different branches of our military there to award scholarships. The choir just stood there until the Principal asked everyone to stand again. I don't know where I learned to stay standing for the National Anthem, actually you should stand when it it played, but I must say I was in shock that so many people didn't know or just weren't paying attention. I guess as a parent I need to make sure my kids know this and have respect for our Flag, National Anthem and our Country!

After Prom Pictures

This is what happened after the parents were done taking pictures and the party limo swept them away.
Matthew spent lots of money on dinner (lots of money was spent in general on prom) Outside the restaurant

After the dinner and dance(didn't find any pictures from the actual dance) their group changed clothes and the party limo took them to Galveston. Someones grandparents let them use their beach house. The kids were met by 8 parents to chaperone this whole thing. The kids had a great time and it was such a good group of kids. This group actually had to be split because their were so many kids wanting to have a fun after party without alcohol and all the actions that go with the alcohol. The other group went to a lake house up north of Houston. Matthew was really glad he was in the beach house group. It's nice to know there are still good, responsible teenagers out there!

The Beach House and a nice one at that!

The caption on Facebook read, "Get it Mormy"
This is Mormon style pole dancing, I guess?

We are having FUN!!

Matthew is in the back. These guys were tanning. They rolled their shorts up and were trying to get rid of their white legs from their long shorts. I don't know about Matthew's legs, but his front and back were fried!

Who Ticked Off the Prom Picture Gods???

Seriously, did it have to pour down buckets of rain right as we were leaving the house for Prom pictures? Unfortunately the group pictures were not taken outside. We weren't sure we were going to get any, but the place where we were going to take the pictures had a club house and they let us in. Thank you, thank you, thank you !!!! I put a lot of pictures up since I was forbidden to put them up on Facebook before Matthew did. I just wanted to share some of them. And boohoo on the rain!!

So handsome!

You'd think he's have this wrist corsage thing figured out by now!
